A Look at His Biography and Life Before Fame

The artist popularly known as Beto Quintanilla was born Norberto Quintanilla Iracheta on May 23, 1948, in Nuevo Leon to his parents Beto and Evelia Iracheta. He grew up alongside his brother Chuy Quintanilla who was also a singer.

Born into a penurious family, Quintanilla’s had to drop out of secondary school only after a year in order to support his large family. However, this was not enough so he relocated to Reynosa, Tamaulipas in search of greener pastures at the age of 13. While in Reynosa, young Beto worked on the cattle range for a while before he was employed to manage a clothing store for a relative.

Quintanilla’s life before fame revolved around the cattle ranch and other menial jobs. Everything dream about his music career was suspended until he made new friends who played bajo sexto and accordion.

He started off by writing songs for his new friends and then for some local musical groups in the region. Many recognized him as a musician even though he had no song to his name at that time.

His Career Kicked-off in 1976

Quintanilla’s life took a better turn after meeting Ruben Polanco a local record executive in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Even though he had no sound experience in the music industry he exerted a lot of effort which produced results within a short time.

The artist began to make waves in 1976 after songs like Pancho la Sota, La Panel Café, and El Quemador became big hits. In 2000, he became a loud voice in the regional Mexican music world

By 2000, Quintanilla had become a loud voice in the regional Mexican music world with songs like Raquenel Villanueva and El Calabozo to show for it. He kept on with his pace without any sign of slowing down until death came knocking in 2007.

Before then, the artist made his first appearance on the billboard charts and a second appearance on international charts with the song that ushered him into 25 years as a singer and composer.
